Usnea Tincture

Supports a healthy immune system. Soothes the throat & supports the lungs.*

Botanical Name: Usnea species.

Part Used: Lichen.

About Usnea Tincture: Usnea lichen grows on old wood, fallen down branches, and on live trees. Older patches grow thick, blowing in the salty breeze like light green and gray curtains. Usnea has a deep affinity for the mucous membranes of the body, especially the lungs, sinuses, throat, and urinary tract. The mucous membranes that run along the digestive system and in the vagina are also greatly supported by this lichen. Usnea encourages healthy immune function and helps to balance occasional heat and irritation in the body.

Taste / Energetics: cooling, drying, aromatic, slightly sweet, slightly powdery.

When to reach for it: For supporting the mucous membranes of the lungs, throat, urinary tract, or vagina, especially when accompanied by heat. To reinforce deep and clear, healthy breathing. When seeking extra support for the microbiome or tissues of the gastrointestinal tract. To offer resilience to the immune and respiratory systems after mild, occasional exposure to challenging environmental conditions such as fire or fumes.
